The DJI Phantom 3
The main drone body comes disassembled and you will need to put it together.The blades Will need to be attached out of the box. Once you have it setup you can control your drone using your phone or tablet which is controlled through WiFi.
Before flight you will have to run through a safety tutorial. Following this you will need to calibrate the drone.Starting up for the first time can be tedious as you update and figure things out. Finally Getting the drone off the ground is a thing of real beauty and the video shots it takes is very nice to say the least.
Buying Options
You will have several version to choose from when getting this drone. You have the standard versions and professional version. The professional version shoots video at very high quality in 4K at 30 frames per second. The professional version also features the same camera sensor as can be found in the GoPro HERO4 BLACK edition.
Also its a win win as despite the price of the Phantom 4 Professional you are getting a really good camera. That camera compares in power to the GoRp Hero 4 which justifies the high price of this version of the drone.
The standard version has a 2.7 K HD camera and you can get it with a bunch of other accessories that you can purchase separately if you like. There are even other version such as the Advanced and so on to look into.

How well does it Fly?
You may think to yourself that I am going to skip the manual and figure this out, don’t. I highly recommend you totally familiarize yourself with the drone. In a matter of 3-4 days you will be flying like a pro trust me. Also it so well-built that you would have to be really clumsy to crash this thing as it’s really easy to fly.The designers really did a good job and have though of everything for the novice to seasoned drone fliers.
The app and the included interface is great and easy to understand. Also the controller works very well. You could practically fly this thing a mile away without it going out of range and at a very good altitude.
You also don’t have to worry much about flying in less than ideal conditions such as a windy day. This is so because of the built-in GPS sensors inside the drone which aids in flight. The drone can also connect to various GPS satellites which makes the drone very accurate and on point. The drone also has sonar that detects it relative position to objects.
It will tilt itself automatically to compensate for various wind speeds. Moving the joy stick on the controller results in an instant movement in the drone and it maintains perfect control with fluid movement. You can also move in 3 dimensions as one control stick allows for up and down movement while the other makes it possible to go back forth right and left.
How long will it Fly for?
This thing with the standard power or battery pack will fly for about 25 minutes or so. You can also keep track of battery with the control app.
How long does it take to charge up?
With the standard accessories it will take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes tops to fully charge.
Video and recording
If you hit record from the app it will begin to capture video. I really like how stable and clean the video footage looks. You can control the drone which in turn will move the camera for some great areal footage. When the drone is air-borne to the altitude you want then you can adjust the tilt of the camera on the Phantom 3 camera which adjust the video shot at a perfect angle.
With a simple button press on the controller you can flip the camera the other direction for a quick readjustment.You can look all the way down for a top down view and basically get any angle shot you want. I can see this thing being used in all kids of situations. The applications are endless from surveying an area, shooting a movie or just cool areal video or photography the quality is unmatched.
This thing can go 35 miles per hour and it moves lightning fast and with little to no shaking on the videos footage.
Automated Features
While you can do manual control of your Phantom 3 you can have a lot of things done automatically for you in app. So with a press of a button the drone can take off automatically. A cool feature which I love is if you lose control of the Phantom 3 or it goes out of range a fail safe called return to home will allows it to fly right back to you.
Landing is equally easy as you can simply choose to do it automatically and by pressing a simple button beside the power twice it will land automatically. Cooler yet it will land in the same place it took off at the start of your flight.
